This was my Maha Mantra meditation for the day. Recorded simply, a cappella. Pure heart!

Created on January 11, 2010. This piece explores my efforts to learn how to work with a "looper"- which allows you to record short instrumental or vocal parts & layer one on top of the other. They then "loop" playback, so you can create your own personal band, or backing tracks. This is the edited-down version of about 30 minutes of a spontaneous creative idea. I recorded percussion & vocals onto the looper (I edited out the process of recording each instrument one by one), and then played keyboard drones & sang & played flute over the top. This was a blast to do. It's raw & unrefined - there are some crazy vocal parts - I was working out a vocal technique I created to mimic the "ney" flute - you can hear it pretty well around 4 or 5 minutes, I think. (This file is 10:52 or so!) Also, I played some crazy flute stuff, trying out some alternate fingerings & some circular breathing. Additionally, I picked up Thomas Ashley-Ferrand's book, "Healing Mantras" and opened to a page & decided to include whatever mantra I turned to. It was actually 2 pages of mantras for overcoming specific afflictions such as anger, jealousy, greed, fear, arrogance, duplicity, etc - followed by the Ram mantra for spiritual liberation. I decided to direct energies to the planetary level while chanting the mantras. That's why I call this one "planetary transformation." I hope you enjoy. Oh - warning - IT MIGHT GET LOUD!
